As the second largest airport in the state of Georgia, Commissioner Patrick recognizes the economic influence the DeKalb-Peachtree Airport (PDK) has within District 1, the region, and the state. As several resident groups have voiced their concerns about the proposed expansion plans, Commissioner Patrick met with airport Director Mario Evans on several occasions to get a better understanding of their concerns and the operations of the airport.

Director Evans provided a thorough overview of expansion efforts, discussed the noise concerns, and the vendor contract process. Surrounding residents have specifically voiced concerns regarding potential additional noise, the size of aircrafts, and environmental issues that the expansion plan may bring. However, he stressed that the expansion plan is in compliance with all oversight agencies.
